UNILORIN Warriors and OAU Giants have recorded first leg wins in the semi-finals of the 2018 Higher Institutions Football League.

Warriors’ striker Kabir Akanbi scored the only goal in the 55th minute of the tie against UNICAL Malabites while OAU Giants defeated UAM Tillers 5-3 to put themselves in a good stead ahead of the second leg.

The second leg of the semi-finals is scheduled for October 17.

The HIFL is organised by Pace Sports and Entertainment Marketing in partnership with the Nigerian Universities Games Association.

Meanwhile, the organisers have announced a realignment of the league management.

In a statement, the organisers said the role of Green White Green Sports Centre Limited, who were the Technical Consultants for the league, has been suspended.

Director, Pace Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Sola Fijabi, said, “Pace appreciates the contribution of GWG towards the league, however recent events dictated the need for a review in order to sustain the league’s integrity and continued success.”
