Oba of Benin in historic visit to Olu of Warri

The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, on Saturday paid a historic visit to the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, calling on Nigerians to promote values that unite them than factors that divide the people.

The Benin monarch who spoke at the palace of the Itsekiri monarch stated that he was in Warri on a “thank you visit” to the monarch and the Itsekiri nation for gracing his coronation as the 40th Oba of Benin.

It was the first time the Benin traditional ruler visited the state since his enthronement as Oba of Benin and the second time an Oba of Benin would be visiting the Itsekiri monarch.

Accompanied by prominent members of his royal family including the Benin crown prince and chiefs, Ewuare II said the visit would further strengthen the close affinity between the two kingdoms.

In his remarks read by Chief Brown Mene, the Olu of Warri, said the visit would strengthen the age-old bond between the Itsekiri and the Benin.
